Once we receive your uploaded work a reviewer checks to ensure your work is complete in its content and the registration form details are checked for accuracy. Certificates of copyright registration provide a clear and legible record of registered works. You can help by making sure that the information in your application is complete, accurate, and legible, and that the work submitted is of an acceptable quality.

To ensure the copyright details are recorded accurately – you must include all the information and components requested.

What the registration covers:

Normally, each song, recording, set of lyrics etc., is considered a separate work and requires a separate application and fee. However when registering your work with Songrite we include the registration of all additional rights as set out below.

A single Song usually contains several copyright categories which cover all aspects of a song; these rights include the following;

      1. The Music / Melody:
      2. The lyrics:
      3. The Arrangements:
      4. The Production:
      5. The Performance:
      6. The Artwork: (On the sleeve or album cover or CD).
      7. The registration of your Band or Stage name is also included

All of these collective copyrights are included and are verified in your registration documents.

Copyright registration becomes effective on the date this Copyright Office receives all the required components in an acceptable form as outlined, regardless of how long it then takes to process the application and mail the certificate of registration. The time required to process an application varies, depending on how busy the copyright department is at the time.

We reserve the right to refuse to accept any work/compositions we consider to be in direct breach of any known or existing copyright.
